Britain’s best-selling pet titles, Your Cat and Your Dog magazines, based in Stamford, recently announced the winners of their first Product Awards. Jean Orpin & Sue Lee have investigated the availability and costs of some of these products at pet shops and vets in Stamford & Rutland
At a prestigious ceremony at The Kennel Club, awards and certificates were handed out to winners by TV and radio presenter Paul Ross. Readers of both magazines were asked to vote for their favourite products in surveys published by the titles last year.
Dry Cat and Dog Food - James Wellbeloved Complete. James Wellbeloved was started in 1992 by three pet lovers. It specialises in hypo-allergenic products made from natural ingredients without additives. They sell mainly through specialist pet shops and vets and pride themselves on customer service – you can consult them over individual allergies on their customer care line. Available in local vets and pet stores in Stamford and Rutland at about £7 for 2kg.
Cat Travelling Product - Rolf C. Hagen’s Cabrio. The top half of this innovative carrier opens completely to allow the cat to get in and out easily and safely and there are food and water bowls in the door, which can be accessed externally without the cat escaping. Dog Bed - Petlife Vetbed. This is the original vetbed, widely used by vets for over 20 years and identifiable by its green backing. It is non-irritant, non-allergic, warm, strong and long-lasting. Dog Toy - The Company of Animals’ Kong
