Andy Baldwin, who runs the Bourne Carpet Store, has a loyal following in Stamford from the days that he and his dad ran the carpet shop at the bottom of St Mary’s Hill.
Since then he has moved his outlet to Bourne, to give more space to the showroom and stock. Why choose Andy? Well, he offers the complete service from start to finish, he uses the same fitting team that he has done for years, and they are really expert at what they do, and he has many, many satisfied Stamford customers!

James Lamb, the irrepressible owner of the Stamford Garden Centre, just keeps making the place better and better. The café is now established as one of Stamford’s favourite places to get a drink or a light meal, with an emphasis on local produce and everything home cooked. There is also a great range of locally-made gifts including the stylish Brass Buttons and a local wood turner.
Greensleaves the florists now has an outlet on site which gives Amanda, the owner, extra space for her silks and workshops (she will continue to have her florists in Scotgate as well). Maax Spas are also based at the top of the garden centre, close to the newly extended car park.
James’ next venture will be a farm shop that will sit alongside the café, providing locally sourced food and a food outlet for North Stamford (there are no other food stores within quite a significant radius of here)

A new fashion outlet has just opened in Uppingham, located in a delightful store in High St East with an incredible feeling of lightness and space - just going in puts you in the mood to discover something new and uplifting.
It is the inspiration of Fiona Polito, a creative and experienced individual with strong visual flair and oodles of energy and enthusiasm. This is her third retail venture, having opened a florists in Burnham Market and the Wish Gift & Accessories shop just a few doors away in Uppingham, which continues to thrive.
Fiona’s business acumen and eye for what works has enabled her to secure the Joules Lifestyle range and the Fenn Wright Manson brand, two ranges that would be the envy of even the most established boutique. The ranges are distinguished by being practically-oriented, casual, good value and having a ‘twist’ in terms of colour, style or texture that makes them distinctive and appealing. There is also a Joules children’s range for girls 3-8.
Twist, 30 High Street East, Uppingham, LE15 9PZ Tel: 01572 821390 Opening times: 9.30am-5pm Mon-Sat
The Fine Food Store is ‘network central’ in St Mary’s St, THE place to go for a convivial atmosphere and great food and drink.
They have just completed a major re-vamp, masterminded by Neil of Nigel Gibson Interiors, which creates much more space inside and the stunning ‘secret garden’ at the back, which is already proving popular. You will love the new look, go and take a peek, it is really a 5-star establishment.
They have also added some new recipes and a tasty breakfast menu too, which includes delicious granolas, heavenly maple pancakes and sausage baguettes.

Welcome to ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, a very special boutique for babies & children. The on-line store (physically based on the Rutland/Leicestershire border and started by a couple of local families) is full to the brim with cool clothing and beautiful gifts from around the world. They stock Anne-Claire Petit, Fauna, Imps & Elfs, Kids on Roof, Les Deglingos, Maan, Nicola Levy, Simple Kids, Nume, Rita co Rita, Susie Watson and Wovenplay to name but a few! Whether you are looking for a gift for a newborn baby or a great pair of jeans, they have found the kind of products you don’t see everywhere. They have travelled the world looking for beautiful things to fill their online store. Although products have to be special they also have to be highly practical, and wherever possible, organic and ethically produced, such as the beautiful handmade merino wool blankets from Nicola Levy, in elegant and chic colours, knitted in the UK. They’ve also sourced hand-painted pottery with gorgeous illustrations that are fine in the dishwasher! The baby and kids clothing from Imps & Elfs is beautifully designed for children, but also produced by MADE BY, a company actively encouraging the fashion industry to adopt sustainable production processes. www.emperorsnewclothesshop.com
